    Green Iguana for Adoption?!
My local Animal Rescue League has a Green Iguana for Adoption.
They make it sound like this is an easy animal to care for when they require a ton of time and money!

    http://saintjohnanimalrescue.com/?p=adoptl&t=3

I've emailed them and asked them not to let just anyone adopt this reptile.
I think it's stupid that they even allow it to be adopted in the first place, and I think it should be put down unless they have a contact or someone they know who has experience with Iguanas and wants one...
I'd take but I learnt my lesson with them suckers. They cost a bunch of money to feed and care for, and would take a lot of room up!

What do you think? Should they even have this up for adoption?

I know what you mean for sure, but I dont want it to go through the same pain it just did. And chances are in this little city most people dont know what they are getting into...

    but GOOD NEWS!

The Animal Shelter emailed me back and said he was adopted to an experienced family who has had them before! Hopefully all goes well for the little guy!

I hope things go well for him also. While I think that all animals should have a chance at a good home, I also don't think that a typical animal shelter is a good place to adopt out a reptile. Unless they have experience with them and can tell people exactly what they need to know before they adopt (ie. how big iguanas can get, that they are going to need a huge and tall enclosure..not a tank, correct husbandry, etc.). But I am glad that the people that adopted him have had experience before and it was just not a spur of the moment adoption, because it would be "cool" to have an iguana or what have you.

EXACTLY! Thats why I freaked out at them saying they better give it to a good home! They said they did, so I guess I will have to take there word for it. Not much else I can do!

I think an iguana can be one of the HARDEST reptiles to care for! So much husbandry requirments. It's just insane!
I don't even understand why they even allow them to sell babies still at Pet stores. Boggles my mind sometimes!
