    clamp lamp Q
    Hi,
i have an exo-terra clamp lamp (heat lamp) and am currently using an infrared bulb. i was wondering if a ceramic element can be safely used?
the reason i ask is that it doesnt say you can or cant on the website. it is the same as the zoo-med and most others are the same. can anyone help?
    thanks, Mike...

I think you can but make sure the wattage is rated for it. Ceramic heaters scare the hell out of me though, if that thermostat malfunctions they get crazy hot.

CHE's are hot...really hot. If you're going to use one, keep it on that t-stat and never put it so it's touching anything. Dome lamps can take them, but you have to make sure the wattage is well within parameters. Also, as a heads up, only use those things if you absolutely have no other source of working heat: they suck out the moisture from any enclosure in no time flat.
