New girl not eating

I got a new female blotched granite burmese python last week. I let her settle in and was told she had just eaten when i bought her. I have the warm side at 86 degrees and the cool at 80. The humidity is 60% continusly. I was told shes eating f/t hoppers(prolly need bigger now) I noticed her belly is light pink like shes about to shed. I tried to feed last niht and she wanted nothing to do with it. I figured I would just let her shed and then try again? Or is there a trick to get her to eat?

How are you measuring your temps? How are you providing the heat? How long was your little break in period?

And you tried a f/t. How did you heat it up? I notice the warmer I heat my f/t rats up. The more agressive feeding response I get. My ball python and bood python both eat in shed. Some snakes won't though.
And with f/t are you using tongs and making the mouse move around and hop around so to speak?


I don't know the heating requirements for these snakes. So I can't tell you your good or not on the temps. But too hot or cold of temps can make em go off feed.

I am using the thermomters that measure humidity and temp from walmart..the same ones everyone here uses. I heated up the hopper and used the thongs to make it jump and she sniffed it then went back in hide. It's been a week since I got her and still havent handled her excpet to tke a pic last night before trying to feed. I asked the person i bought it from and she said to give it another week nd if it still wont feed to bring it back in and she will take a look since she had it eating fine before it came home lol.

Your temps sound right on the money. If she is going into shed she probably won't eat. Mot of our burms will eat whether they are in shed or not but a couple of the babies won't. Are you trying mice or rat hoppers?

Mice hoppers so I know they are to small but I warmed the rat even longer tonight and she snapped it right up. Her strike scared me even with tongs so the first one I jumped to. I stayed still the second time and shes now digesting nice and cozy. Wondering if I should try one more since it was a mouse not a rat.

Go ahead a see if she'll eat again. Be prepared as she grows older and gets bigger the strikes will come quicker and harder.
