crested question

Looks like Eggo is a male............and i wanna say he's under a year.............now i know 2 males will fight..........if i house him with a female will he constantly bother her?

how come if you want more than one you just have two separate enclosures? especially since they dont need much it would be easy to do. then you dont have to worry about baby cresteds, stressing either of them, exc.

tyree, alot of times yes males will stress each other and females out.

i know a few people that do large groups, they normally have a big cage or setup.

with alot of logs and hiding spots and vines/leaves,etc.

big like 75/100 gal and bigger!

really? i won't risk this guy stressing out or better yet stressing a newbie out! thanks!

wow, 75 gallon or bigger?! isnt that a bit much for even a pair of cresteds?

if you house him with a female they will breed and you will get lots of eggs/babies.

a few things to consider:

1. if you do get another crested you need to quarantine it, so you will need a separate enclosure for the new gecko to start out in

2. if you get a female you will get babies (and will need housing and plans for what to do with them)

3. if you get a female you need to make sure not to put her with the male until the she is ready to breed--at least 35 grams and 12 months old

4. the male and female will need to be separated for several months out of the year for the female to rest and rebuild her calcium reserves and for the male to rest and gain back any weight lost during breeding (it is common for males to lose weight due to not eating as much as they normally would while they are focused on breeding)

i was referring to keeping multiple males together, or large breeding groups like 2.6, 3.8 etc.

i haven't done this, but i know a few that have. it works for them.

for them using alot of vines, logs,plants, etc. was the key.


plenty of space for everyone to have their own "place"
