Appear to be Yawning

I have My two Lil Fellas still after 6 months and they are doing fine so it seems.......But...........I have a question......I have heard certain things about if your snakes seem to yawn or whatever that that means they have a respiratory infection! My snakes don't do it religiously or nothing but once every blue moon they open their mouths wide and then close them it looks kinda like a yawn I guess but its not frequent at all. So, this question is for those who know with out a doubt I guess, Is that a bad thing for them to do? Does it mean RI? I am worrying myself maybe so advice is appreciated!

dont worry the vet told me that was normal. theyr just tired.

That is a relief that a vet said that I was worried when someone told me yawning was bad about 4 months ago! Thanks now I can't rest easy!

Actually, snakes don't yawn b/c they are tired like people do, but to realign their jaws. They will usually do so after eating, and then sometimes just randomly. If they are stressed or have an RI I have heard that they will yawn more often, but they all yawn once in a while. ^_^

They'll sometimes yawn when they detect the smell of food, or are preparing to explore--probably to make sure everything's in working order.

Huh? Can't say I've ever seen any of mine yawn when mice come into the room. Sit in their hides with their head out, yes, but no yawning. After they swallow the mouse, they need to realign, but sometimes they don't even do that since they know another mouse is about to drop in.

And why in the world would they yawn in preparation for exploring? If they are familiar with their enclosure, there's no need to explore unless they are looking for a way out(stress).
