    cleaning
I know I read something on here about what cleaning solutions are ok to use, and what aren't , but I can' find it.

Was it a 5% solution of regular old bleach?

    Quatricide, chlorhexedrine, Roccal
A bleach solution is the least expensive, and relatively safe, though bleach does form carcinogenic compounds when it combines with organic matter. Some of the cleaners require rinsing, some don't. Bleach and Quat solutions require thorough rinsing. I like to rinse either way, just to reduce the animals' exposure to the residual chemicals.

    vinegar + hydrogen peroxide
Put each into its own spray bottle then spray 1 then the other right after, rinse and then wait for it to dry. I spray and rinse 3 times but once really good is enough, its cheap, easy, effective, and if you run out its a quick trip to grocery store. Use it on everything in the cage.
