Organic Feeders?

This may seem odd, but I was wondering if any of the suppliers listed in the supplier sticky offer feeders which have been raised with organic feed. I eat as much organic food as I can, and would like to start feeding Thor (and my future snakes) this way as well. I currently feed my two dogs organic dog food, and ever since I started, their coats look beautiful and their attitudes have changed a bit for the better.

If not organic raised feeders, is there such a thing as organic rat/mouse food on the market? In the case that I start breeding in the future, I'd like to keep them on an organic diet.

You can easily make your own for SO much cheaper than that. I can make about 50-60lbs of of about 75% organic food mix for my rats for around $45-$50 depending on where I shop. I use Wellness Senior dog food in small quantities as well.


That stuff looks like lab block mixture, but it has alfalfa meal in it.. Rats can't digest alfalfa, so it'd be passing right on through.

Becky, doesn't it really cost you that much to mix your own feed?? I am spending about $20 per 50lb bag of Mazuri (and that's one bag at a time) and toss in scraps to my rodents, I was under the impression that folks where saving money by mixing their own.

I don't think there is any savings mixing your own food, as very little of the ingredients can be bought for less than $.40 per lb which is what a good lab block costs in bulk.
