Winter weather and feeders?
I have a lot of snakes, and would like to make my own colony. Problem is, I'm allergic to rats and mice. Does anyone know If I use rubbermaid tubs, if they'd be okay out on my porch? Its solid fensed in, wooden board fencing with no holes. I live in northern California, sac area.
Re: Winter weather and feeders?
I wouldn't. I am also allergic to my rats, but only when handling them. I just take an antihistamine when I have to work with them and everything works out fine.
Re: Winter weather and feeders?
I'm allergic to my rats as well. Especially if i change their bedding. Antihistimines do work for me but sometimes i get sick from it (the allergies, not the antihistimines). My boyfriend takes care of the rats most of the time because of my allergies.
Re: Winter weather and feeders?
I tried that and it didnt work. I'm so bad that all I have to do is walk into my apartment and instantly stuff up.
Re: Winter weather and feeders?
Maybe set them up in a well ventilated (to the outside) room.
Re: Winter weather and feeders?
I only have 2 rooms with outside access. One is my den and the other is my bedroom. if I keep them in either place I'd be thrown into a sneezing fit, I've tried it before. I didnt used to be allergic just over the past year. I used to breed rats as pets.
Re: Winter weather and feeders?
What if you put them on the porch like you originally wanted too but add a small heater and put both the rats and the heater in an enclosed area?
Re: Winter weather and feeders?
That I could do. I have a desk out there and could put a tarp around most of it and what not. Hmm
