    Restaurant
Ok so this is an idea i've been having for a while now tell me what you think of it...and of course it wouldn't be for a few years. even though it's a really childish idea just follow me on this.

So i was thinking of opening a restaurant call 'python lounge' idk what type of cuisine it would be yet but i want to be a fancy restaurant mayb in NYC or a big city like that...it would be dimly lit and when you walk in there would be a big tank that would hold a full grown albino burmese...the tables would be set up normally like a restaurant usually does and i would have really decorative cages that held different bp morphs all around the restaurants, like as if they were part of the wall...of course i'd have people that were experienced with the snake to help me take care of them...i would want the restaurant to be dimly lit with like a red light. o and also maybe i could have people take pictures with their favorite morphs as a souveneir. idk just a thought tell me what you think...

it's a really cool idea in theory but i'm not sure how well it would work out. as far as husbandry, i would think it would be harder in that kind of environment. and you would have to be able to keep the noise level to a minimum which isn't always possible in a restaurant. and i would say allowing patrons to handle the snakes would prolly be a big no no. i think it's a really cool idea though if you could find a way to make it all work! :)

Idea sounds great however, I doubt the State Food and Drug Administration would agree with your idea.

The moment you said you had reptiles in your restaurant it wouldn't get passed a paper pushers desk at the FDA. Instead, you'd here someone shrieking "Salmonella, Salmonella!". Not to mention, most customers aren't going to want to look at snakes while they are eating... given it typically runs in the top 5 irrational fears.

If I had the extra funds and were interested in starting up something reptile-related, I would start a rescue. A real rescue with education and resources behind it to take in all of the unwanteds out there. An awesome way to get people in general to appreciate herps more would be to then open it to the public or conduct tours and handling sessions.. now that would rock!!

    not to mention the costs....

you would not only have to worry about keeping the restaurant running (which FAR from easy), but you would have to account for the care of the snakes (feeding, housing, vet bills, not to mention cost of the snakes themselves).

the pay for the snake keepers on top of the server's salary, I'd imagine a really high insurence payments.
As an alternative, you could have portraits/paintings of pythons instead.

    Re: Restaurant
yea i wanna think of something really creative...the rescue sounds like a good idea but i need a couple more years of experience under my belt and if i did do a rescue i'd probably start with big cats since i have more experience with those than snakes...and cost wouldn't be an issue i'm in college now (International Business Major) and my dad has a successful business and he said he would back me financially on whatever kind of plan or idea i had as long as i wrote out a business plan and showed him expenses and all that...so if i have the opportunity to help animals i would deff want to. :snake:
