reptile relief?

is it any good or should i go straight to provent a mite?

Reptile Relief only kills the mites, not the eggs, PAM kills anything, the mites and the eggs, so go with PAM, I did, and my guy is mite free! :)

Just an FYI:

PAM is called Provent a Mite. If you Google Provent a Mite, you'll find a few places that sell it. Also read the directions *very* carefully. You can't spray the snake with it. I've never dealt with mites and but I'd personally use Reptile Relief on the snake and PAM on the bedding, cage, etc.

If you have any other questions, feel free to post 'em. Like I said I have yet to deal with mites. Other's have more knowledge.

I do not think that provent-a-mite actually kills mite eggs. The eggs are very tough and impervious. I think what actually happens is that provent-a-mite stays in the environment for several months and kills the mites as they hatch. It's actually very difficult to get RID of provent-a-mite once you've sprayed it on something. Even washing and scrubbing are not very effective in removing that residue once it's dryed onto a surface.

I just used provent a mite the other night and my bp is much improved already. e has stopped soaking excessively. Also, I used a lot of treatments before that didnt work. Also, I was told if you bathe him in a warm bath with like 2 drops of dish detergent you can just as easily kill the mites that are on him. Good luck

Be very careful with PAM..... I love the stuff, but it can be dangerous.

I actually tried Reptile Relief "back in the day." It didn't seem to do anything other than kill off the mites that yo could see. A little while later, and the eggs that were there must have hatched, because mites returned.
Provent-a-mite is definately the way to go. Used as directed, it is safe. It is not something to be sprayed right onto the snake; as per the can, you clean the cage, spray it onto the substrate, and let it dry before putting the snake and hide spots back in. Water bowls need to be removed during treatment as well; no PAM in your snake's drinkie!
I would recommend using paper sowels or newsprint as a sbustrate when mites are being killed. It greatly enables you to see the little buggers better than a loose substrate.

Yes this is a must.... Also when you have a new addition in quarantine.

So whats the reasons your snake would get mites? I had never had a problem with it before.
