    Might be buying a house
Our former land lord (great guy) is selling some of his properties and he has one in particular that my hubby and I want. It's not a huge place, but it's enough for us. He had people "buying" it but they just could not seem to pay the mortage soooo.....

They have to be out on Monday and he takes possession on Tuesday. Mike is going to go over and look at the place to see what kind of shape it's in. We know there are a bunch of junk cars in the yard and it's kind of a mess but we want/need to know what the inside looks like. If it's not too bad then we're going to take the place. If that's the case then we'll be cleaning, repairing (if necessary) and moving this month (October).

    I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
Keep your fingers crossed that it's not completely trashed. ;)

Congratulations! I so need to buy a house myself, but it looks like it may be a little longer for now for us!

Congrats and I have my fingers crossed.

I love "fixer-upers" you get to keep all the sweat equity that you put into it (assuming you are handy with repairs). Not to mention you can donate all the junked cars to Goodwill and get a nice tax deduction :D

I bought my first house this way - it was trashed but in a descent neighborhood. Took a lot of work (but little "cost" to fix it up) ended up selling it a few years later for more than double what I paid for it.

    Good Luck.

Well, if we do, we *will* have to add another bedroom. The place only has 2 (and there are 6 of us) but they are big rooms (by all accounts) and building on to the house won't be difficult (by all accounts).

I do hope we get it. It would be sooooo nice to have a place that we can call "ours". I'm tired of renting and having to live by someone else's rules. Heck, just being able to paint the walls whatever color I want would be a nice change of pace. :D

Plus, over there, we can have chickens and such and we'd be able to have the mastiff and doberman that we want but can not have here. We can actually fence the dang yard too... imagine that! :O

Well, if we take this place we'll still be paying the same amount that we are here for mortgage, insurance, taxes, etc. and the interest is only 8%... and we're not going through a bank. Along with all the other benefits, it will be a good deal, especially for us. :D
