Hi, i was just wondering if its normal for my BP to stay in his hides and be inactive on the week or so run up to shedding until he starts?
    thanks, Mike...

Yes, I do notice that my bps will greatly reduce their activity right before and during shed. It's one of the first signs of an impending shed, at least for me.

i suppose its a good idea to leave him alone until he does then yeah? i've given him 2 baths to bump his hydration level up and the humidity is at 70% so fingers crossed for a nice first shed :)

There's really no need to bathe a snake prior to shedding and many will tell you that it can in fact adversely affect the shed. Bathing/soaking a snake is likely best only if the snake has had difficultly slipping it's skin. Here's a couple of great stickies for you to read on this subject.

    inactive BP (urgent help needed)
my BP went through the blue eye stage and had cleared up on friday this week (28/9) and i was expecting him to shed yesterday.
i checked on him today and have noticed that his tail was dry and skin very wrinkly all over but not very dull/grey. its as if hes started to feel off from the front as theres a tiny bit coming off but thats it.
this seems a bit too extreme and was wondering if this is normal?
