Not Eating???
My guy is almost full grown, and he is a great eater, once a week no problem. He's on med. thawed rats. I was told to change the red heat light to a white light with the suns rays in it. Did that 2 days ago, he is alot more active, oh ya just heating pad at night, but still hasn't eaten. He hasn't eaten in almost 3 weeks. What's up??? HELP:confused:

The change in the setup leans to that being the problem. Also some balls males in particular or more prone to going off feed during this time of year. Balls really don't need UVA/UVB lighting so switch back to what was working before. And keep offering every week so that it can eat when it gets hungry. :D

Re: Not Eating???
She told me that because the days are getting darker earlier that he may think that he is going into hybernation so use this white light, but why would he be so much more active now since I changed the light? He was also off his food for about 2 weeks before I changed his light.

Re: Not Eating???
Hes more active because things have changed and hes stressed or hes hungry. What are you trying to feed him

Re: Not Eating???
Medium thawed rat. Same he has eaten for the last about 4 times.

Re: Not Eating???
I'll tell you this. I feed no bigger than a small rat. It could be that he is just letting his body catch if he is a little over fed.

Re: Not Eating???
So I should stick with just small rats? Maybe that's the problem. What about this hybernating thing??

Re: Not Eating???
Balls don't hibernate. Males go off feed to spend time breeding.

Re: Not Eating???
So, go back to the red light and keep trying every week to feed? Also he hasn't shed in close to a month.

Yea I'd go back to the red light and give him a week of not messing with him then try feeding a smaller food item. :D
See how that works out.
