    Amazing Thing
Last night I pulled Zeus (my 3.5 foot BP of 4 years) out of his cage for a little handling. I knew he was within a day or two of shedding. So, I wasn't going to handle him that long. I layed him on my lap, and a few minutes into him being there he began to rub his nose against my jeans (kind of like a cat would). He did that several times, and I could not figure out what he was doing, cause I could not see his head. Well, when he brought his head back into view I could see that he was trying to start his shedding process started right there in my lap. His skin had started to peel back right in front of me. So, I let him do what he does best, and about 45 mins to an hour later I had all of his shed skin laying in my lap and a brightly colored fresh snake looking at me (as if he was saying I am hungry, lol). I must say that is something I will never forget, and just goes to show how comfortable he is with being around me.

That's very cool! (And I'm happy for you that he didn't decide to poop into the shed that time like so many of them do! :giggle: )

That has happened to me before. My girl was around my neck and she was like, "ok, I'm doing this." and started rubbing her head all over my shoulder. I just stared at her because I didnt know WHAT the heck she was doing. Eventually I realized and put her back in her cage to watch her. lol

I thought about putting him back into his cage, but I didn't want to interrupt him since he was doing such a good job of getting it all off. So, I just let him finish with it. It was kind of weird hearing the old skin pull away from the new skin. But an awesome experience non the less.

Wow! What a truly incredible thing to experience so up close and personal! And I agree with you that it is an indication that he is very comfortable and safe with you.

my male snake of about 4-5 months was having a lazy shed. he only started it past his neck like a chump.... so i had to do some soaking and encouraging of him to get the shed going. after a few days he only managed his lower quarters so i assisted him in the shed with more soaks and light petting to get that old skin off so he might actually want to feed since it was 14 days without feed.
next shed that silly monkey better show more inititive. :rolleye2:
