Plants in my rhac cage...?
I bought a bunch of plants. I decided to go against planting the cage because I don't want trouble finding eggs. So I planted them in pots. The girls LOVE it.
Anyway, I bought Golden Potho's, which everyone I have talked to uses in their cages. Well, I just found it on the toxic plant list. What the heck? Should I take it out? Its only if it is eaten so I don't see it being a problem seeing as cresties don't eat them. Anyone have trouble with Potho's?
Re: Plants in my rhac cage...?
is there a difference between golden pothos and just plain, regular pothos? i've used pothos before and i know many others who use and recommend them for rhac setups.
i will say though, that cresteds will lay in plant pots and any other sort of container, large or small, that contains a loose substrate. they will dig down really far too, beyond where you think they would be able to get too. some people put rocks over the dirt in their plant pots and still find eggs under the rocks, buried way down in the dirt!
Re: Plants in my rhac cage...?
I have found two different pothos plants. I am using goldned pothos. They are both on the toxic plant list. I talked to some other people that said they have used both without any problems. Mainly cause cresties don't eat the plants.
Yeah I saw my one female that laid eggs digging like crazy in one last night. LIttle brat lol. Oh no the nest box isn't good enough is it. I will have to check to make sure there aren't any eggs in there. At least they will be confined to a couple pots though and they aren't sporadically laid through out the cage.
I guess I can deal with it. I just got so sick of looking at the fake plants. I knew they would love live plants.
