    Now I knwo this will mark me as a newbie owner and handler of snakes but I have to ask. Why does a snake musk and such things?

    Its a defense mechanism I beleive.

    they musk because the odor is never something pleasant and drives whatever is messing with it away. That is why snakes that are handled alot are less likely to musk because they know you won't hurt them.
