    Paranoia or RI?
mmkay, so my big girl makes a faint whistling noise when she breathes. I soaked her in a tub of warm water the other day to see if maybe she had skin stuck to her nose that would cause it, but no dice. So today I took her in to see a reptile dude around here, and he looked in her mouth and listened to her and stuff and he said she looked fine. She's eating great, not sleeping with her head up or anything, just as active and normal as ever.

Should I still be worried about an RI or should I just quit being paranoid?

    Hi,

What is her shedding cycle like? Just finished, about to start?

Does she wheeze only when your holding her or when she's breathing heavily or do you hear it when she's calm and at rest?

If it's something that your fairly sure is unusual are there any good herp vets near you rather than laymen?

She's not wheezing, she's whistling. It's a BIG difference. She just sounds like one of those people who are loud nose-breathers, you know what I mean? Where you can hear them breathing because there's a little itty bitty, obnoxious noise.

I hear it only when she sticks her head in my ear or if its REALLY quiet.

She should be going into shed relatively soon.

I'm bumping this before I go to school. I'd really like an opinion, as the vets in this area are not AT ALL cheap. Something this simple will end up being more than I can afford, so I need to know if I'm being paranoid before I run screaming to the vet.

    Thanks

From what I gather what you are hearing is normal, and not RI. Think of it this way; when you whistle, you are pursing your lips into a tiny, tiny hole, much like your bp's nostrils. Plus, you've got to blow fairly hard to get a noise going, similar to your bp doing the work to crawl all the way up to your ear, where you are basically just hearing her getting a good work out. That's my logic, hope it helps!
