Wow my BP stinks! ! !
Okay, I decided that today was going to be the day I cleaned out his enclosure and as soon as I lift up the lid BAM! It was like I got punched in the nose by some sort of **** demon! Well I fed him a rat a few days ago and everything smelled fine, no odor or anything. Well I took him out and I noticed that there was some urine in the corner of the cage and so I cleaned everything up and so now there is no odor inside his tank.

The problem is Fingers stinks! He reeks! I checked him over making sure it wasn't an infection/leakage or anything and everything seems fine so my guess is that he must have smeared it all over himself.

How do you clean them up? I mean, I put him in a plastic tub with lukewarm water for about 15 mins and that helped a bit but I think I can still smell some on him. Any ideas?

He smell like pee?? I find our snakes must BATHE in their pee before I wake up to clean it. Little boogers. I've never bathed them afterward, of course I also keep them on newspaper, and it seems the smell dissapates after a day.

Yep, the snakies and the rats both love to marinate in their own wee :) So much fun!

With the snakes, their tub gets cleaned and they get wiped down with chlorhexidine.

That must be it. I was actually gagging a bit. Needless to say that the tank, hides, hides and everything else got the most thorough cleaning since they left the factory.

Wow. I am unsure about what chemicals are safe to use on snakes. I was thinking about using dishwashing detergent but I'm not sure if that's the way to go. Although he would smell some what lemony.

You can use a weak dishwash-soap detergent. I use a single drop in a dishpan-sized tub. Warm water; not overhot is good; a littls gentle scrubbing with a washcloth should help :) Then a rinse should remove the smell of lemony freshness..

Lol. Mines do that once in awhile, but most of the time they sit on top of their hide until I come clean it up. :)

Best thing to use to wash your snake is Ivory hand soap. No moisturizers or other garbage added, so its safe. Just be sure to rinse thoroughly. Breeders use this to wash the egg scent off females when removing the eggs from them.
