    Solar Burns
So i like to take my snakes out let them wander around my room under supervision. My bigger guy likes to go to the window. And I sometimes let my guys roam through the grass. Now it is hot as hell here in Florida and I am concerned about the safety of my pets. Is it possible for them to get burnt by the sun? What be the max time they can stay in direct sunlight?

coat them in some Coppertone, SPF 30 at least.....

that was a joke (i have to be more careful and make sure people get that i was joking). i don't really see it as being too much of a problem as snakes don't have skin like humans, there scales are made to protect them from all sorts of things including the sun's rays. i would worry more about yourself sitting out there for too long with your snakes.

If the snake shows that he doesnt want to be in the heat anymore, get him out. Remember these are nocturnal creatures, and they usually escape the hot African sun by staying in rodent burrows and such till dusk. Use simple common sense, if its too hot to walk on barefoot, it's too hot for your snake. Hope this helps. ;)

i see what your saying but from what i have seen snakes arent that smart...snakes will stay on the UTH and get burned...but i was talking more in my room on the window ledge...seems to be a hot spot to hang out...and outside i only let them crawl in the grass...no cement no tar roads.
