    Cheap Het Clowns
Why are the Het Clowns so cheap this year

I know Adam keeps his prices reasonable, but $1100 for a Het couple is VERY reasonable.....

Does anyone know why the prices are low?

Probably because visuals are coming down in price. I have seen visuals for $3500 and I am sure if I was an "insider" I could get them even cheaper than that. If the hets were much more than they are now most people would probably end up just buying a visual. I also think it is A LOT harder for a smaller breeder to sell his hets than it is to sell his visuals so he has to offer a lower price to move them which ends up bringing the market as a whole down.

$1100 is very reasonable, and I say that as someone who is selling them for cheaper.

The price is dropping because the price on the homozygous is dropping and the hets have become quite difficult to sell for $1100 with any kind of frequency. I easily sold hets for $1800 last year, but this year is very different.

So there are two ways to look at it:
    1) keep them because they are worth more than what ppl are willing to buy them for
    2) sell them cheaper

I'm keeping 80% or more of my het females from this year, I really can't justify selling very many at "market" price.

I think the new wave isnt just selling hets...people i thnk want more morphs than base morphs. I would be mor willing to buy a pastel or mojave or cinnamon het clown vs. a normal het clown. With all these super cool morphs coming I think the base morphs arent holding attention like they used to. And think for someone that is going to buy a het they are def. looking at breeding which would mean looking for some shortcuts to try to get in the game of who has the coolest morph :P. So get a morph het vs a normal het.

just my two cents...i know for one i wouldnt by a het clown when i could just get a lesser or orange hypo for roughly the same price and not have to wait 2-3 years to prove my hets out.

I for one would be more willing to buy a het for a higher price that came with the morph...example...hatchling female clown with a male normal het clown.

So this means people are willing to pay more for Caramel Hets?
Cause Caramel prices didn't drop as much as the Clowns...

    Thanks for explaining :sweeet:

I know that I bought a bunch of female het caramels this year, so I did my part to keep the caramels strong!
