    Feeding question
Ok, I've been feeding cyclone three good sized adult mouses for about two months now. Should I move up to a small rat? What size should he get? He is about the size of half dollar round.

Half dollar sounds too small for a small rat. The rule is - nothing bigger around than the snake is at the snakes widest point. In fact, if your snake is truly only as big around as a half dollar, 3 large mice sounds like too large a meal to me. How old is your snake? Do you know how much he weighs? A bp that I picture being as big around as a half dollar is probably going to do fine on one large mouse a week, or one fuzzy rat a week.

:2cent: I agree with Hoo-t, three adult mice is too much, it doesnt seem like it now but if you keep it up he will start refusing meals and go off feed so he can catch up. I would drop it down to one rat pup a week to tell you the truth so that way you wont have to switch over to rats later.

yes I agree , I dont see any need to feed any more than 1 appropriately sized rodent a week. I feed my adults on one large mouse per week and they do fine.

You may find as Juddb stated that the snake will go off feed with over feeding like that ( which is what, "imo" it looks like to me ) no offense meant btw.

I dont think there is anything wrong in the occasional 2 a week but 1 good sized mouse a week is a healthy diet in my experience.

My first question would be how big is your BP (weight)?

I only feed 2 to three adult mice or a small rat (45/65 grams) to my biggest adult girls 1500 grams and over.

Keep in mind that if you overfeed your BP sooner or later he will fast to catch up, and what you really want is a BP that eat with consistency

I'll weigh him tomorrow night since he was just fed yesterday. I can tell you he is roughly 2' 8" long.

I am not sure if it's the same with all snakes but shouldn't you feed until it leaves a bump?

I cannot talk for other snakes but not when it comes to BP and colubrids, when I fed my snakes there is no visible lump.
