Drinking Valve's

What brand of drinking Valve's do you use and have you had any problems with them?

I was checking out the Dew Drop Valve's and the price is 1.63 ea

Agree 100% (been using them for several years) - I check mine every time I change cages just to make sure they are all working fine (occassionally you can get some slime build up which can block the lines or worse they could stick open and flood a tank)

I check at every cleaning as well. I find that my blockages happen in the bucket valve filter. But my new thing is every month or so I take all the sippers apart and soak them in a bleach/water/soap solution. But the buckets get nasty quickly.

The reason I posted this is because I have herd that the rats can take bedding a jam it in the Edstrom drinking valves and make them flood there tubs. Has this happened to anyone here or anyone you know?

I have a friend in South Carolina that took his rack down and is useing frozen because he had this happen to him, but I dont know what drinking valve he was using

That bucket gunk also works it's way into the lines. I like to flush lines at least once every 3 months if not more often.

Yup. It happens. Not that often though ... I have a few hundred tubs of rodents and I get a flood like that only every now and then.

You might want to go a little lighter on your bedding and try a smaller water bucket. If it becomes a huge problem, adding something like paper or treats to the tubs to occupy your rats will keep them out of trouble.

If you keep a lid over your bucket it doesnt gunk up as bad. I also use edstrom brass drinking valves and I have not had a problem with them yet. The biggest issue we have had is trying to rig a lock for the tubs so the cats cant slide them out and eat all the feeders.
