    If I bred a male Mojave with a female Normal would I get 50% Mojave and 50% Normals?, and if I bred my male Pastel to a Normal female would I get 50% pastels and 50% normals? I am trying to understand the dom, co-dom and recessive. :rolleye2:

    Both Mojave and Pastel are Co-Dominate traits, which means when paired with a normal - each egg has a 50% chance of being either the Co-Dom trait or a normal. It doesn't mean that you'll get an even 50/50 split. You could theoretically get all of the Co-Dom or all normals, or you could get any mix in between.

    It's because both Mojave and Pastel are heterozygous that each of their eggs with a normal have a 50/50 chance of being Mojave or Pastel respectively. Genes come in pairs and heterozygous means having an unmatched pair. Each parent gives one of the baby’s pair so the Mojave has a 50/50 chance of passing on the Mojave mutant version of the gene at the Mojave location or the normal for Mojave version to each offspring (and same for the Pastel).

    Because they are both co-dominant mutation types you can see the hets (Mojave or Pastel appearance) and they look different than the homozygous mutants (Super Mojave or Super Pastel).
