Tub or Tank?
So I am being given the chance to get a 55 gallon tank for a very very low price but I am wonderign if I should go woith it or go for a tub. Any advice?

I use tanks cause I can make the enclosure pretty and you can see inside clearly...
but tubs hold heat and humidity much better then a tank... but I dont think they are as nice!
I still manage to get my temps and humidity right... but with a lot of effort and a bit of moolah.

Here's how I made my determining factor.. I could of gotten a 40 gallon breeder for about $30.. but I look at a tub.. and it's about $7.. so, I got that.

55 gallons is bigger than what an adult BP will ever need. All an adult need is a 30 gallons tank.
Now if your BP is a baby it is definitely a NO-NO.

Re: Tub or Tank?
Yeah I was just thinking mainly for a much later time but get it now for later. I can get it for about 100-120 bucks for a 55 gallon but I am truly thinking maybe it would be better for her if I got a tub yes?

Re: Tub or Tank?
$100 - $120 is about regular price for a 55 gallon.. shoot.. that even comes with an aquarium hood.. if you really want one.. go to Petco this week.. they're having a sale 20 - 55 gallon tanks are on sale for $1 per gallon, just tanks.. not the ones with hoods, and not the ones with reptiles..

Re: Tub or Tank?
Man I wish I had them American Pet Stores like you guys do...
I looked everywhere for a cheap tank... even Walmart and I had to pay over 200 dollars for my 40G tank @ Pet's Unlimited... One dollar a gallon seems insane to me... Even 100-150 for a 55G is something I'd SNAG!
You might find a used one for that if your lucky around here.
Actually walmart had some cheaper ones but they were more for fish... They were higher then I wanted them to be... but they were still at LEAST 150.
You should mail me one... It would probably still be cheaper even after shipping! GESH!

Re: Tub or Tank?
honestly, a tub is way better in the long run, cause you WILL want more snakes, and you will want to make a rack. I learned the hard way that tubs are way better, you have to overlook the appearance of your enclosure, the snake does not care if it has fancy fake plants, natural looking hides, all it wants is water, a place to hide, and a steady supply of rodents every week. And I do admit, the ideal of a "display animal" is much more appealing for when you have guests over. But really, its gonna hide all day anyways, so when people are over and you want to show them, you'll have to take the snake out anyways. So you might as well be taking it out of a tub.
