    Hair?
OK I am new to the ball python scene. Tried the search function and couldn't find what I needed. Alright Hera ate Thursday pooped over the weekend and today I noticed and smooth clump of hair, reminding me of a regurge. Doesn't seem to be any meat, just hair. Is this just simply undigested hair, or something to really worry about?

Thanks everyone, have patience with me.

i don't believe snakes will digest the hair...I think it simply passes as poo...i hope someone can back me up on this, or tell me i'm wrong :)

I believe you are right Nate. I know that I have read somewhere that Snakes cannot digest the hair and their is something else they cannot digest as well. I will see if I can find it.

Nate's right about that, but generally healthy snake poop looks like poop. You shouldn't really notice a lot of hair in it unless it thoroughly dries and breaks up. And...there ain't no way that your snake completely digested and defecated that mouse in only 3 to 4 days. Defecation could have been from a previous meal, but should have looked like ordinary every day poop. If it looks like a partially digested mouse, it probably was a regurge. Can you get a little more specific about what you saw????

Ha Ha it's feathers that they cant digest here is a blurb from world book and the url that I plucked it from is there as well.
"Snakes can digest the entire body of their prey, except for hair or feathers. Bone may be completely digested within 72 hours."

And by the way. I understand a snake cannot digest and poop within that time frame, however. She did not eat the week before, also I cleaned the cage Saturday and the pooped appeared by Monday morning. Hairball today.

Mine can take longer than a few weeks to poo a meal. Maybe it just was spaced out for some reason.
