    soaking
Hey I was wondering if once a week if it is alright to soak a snake in a small container with a little water in it? I was told it was good once a week by a pet store but I do not trust the person who told me completly.

Not unless it is going to shed... or hasn't gone poop in a LONG time...

I guess they can get skin rot if they are too humid...
Gotta love the local Pet Shops eh!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong!

Why would you want to do this?

I would not consider soaking any of my BP unless I have a stuck shed issue.

Just provide your BP with proper humidity between 50%-60% at all time that is all you need to do.

From what I've read any sort of bathing is only really recommended with stuck shed or when your snake is dirty. Some people have found their BP's like it.

If you search you'll find some threads on how to bathe your BP correctly. I've done it a couple of times, mostly as an experiment. I reckon the bathtub approach is worth a try at least once just to get to see it swim a little bit! (Be sure to read up on it first though)

What was the reasoning behind the weekly soaks/bathing? I mean if someone gave you advice, there must be a solid reason they'd believe this to be good advice so what reason did they give you for suggesting this?

Well let's say a pet store is not the place I would seek advice from.

I don't know why you'd put a snake through the stress of that process without any reason. The only reason I would soak a snake is if they had a retained shed.

Yeah, my LPS owner tried to tell me that Ball Pythons do best in tanks.. and that I'll need a huge tank later.. because they get to about 7 feet long..
