sad ending to a hard 1 1/2 weeks
I have been really busy this past week and a half careing for my new puppy. She was a pit lab mix and was roughly 7 weeks old.

she was found by the teenager across the street in a box with 9 other puppies that had already passed. I took in the only one that was alive and she seemed to be doing awesome. playing, eating, cuddleing with the cat... well last night she died. I dont know what from but I'm thinking heart worm, round worm, or parvo (no signs of parvo though).

being the weekend i wasnt able to get her into the vet, but had called the er vet and got an appt for 5 am this morning. sadly at the moment i got off the phone with the vet she died.

I have to call in to my other vet to tell them the news, she was going to get her shots on friday.

here are some photos of her and a video

As far as I know, heartworms have to be present in the animal for a substantially long period of time to cause death. Not sure about roundworms, but I know you can get wormer for those anywhere. I believe hookworms, though, can cause anemia and death... but not sure how long it takes. I doubt it was parvo if there were no signs of the disease. At any rate, it's a shame the little one didn't make it.

I'm sorry. She was a cutie. Don't feel lost. You tried your best and your heart was in the right place.

Jesie, I am sooooo sorry for your loss. She was such a cutie! I know this sounds trite, but at least she had a happy few days in a loving home before she passed on.
