    Webcams?
Do any of you set up webcams taping your herps? This can be an incubator, cage, rack, ect. I was just wondering how many people do this. I was thinking it would be fun to set up a webcam in either my corn's tank or either of my ball pythons' tanks. Or perhaps even my sugar glider cage.

Ok, so here are a few questions for those of you who use a webcam to capture your animals on video.

    1) What, in your opinion, is the best webcam out there to use for herps/pets?

    2) How do you broadcast it live on the internet like I see so many people doing?

    3) Is it best to have the cam outside the enclosure or in?

    4) Any other advice, info, suggestions?

I used a Microsoft Lifecam VX 6000 for my webcam.
Earthcam.com is a internet site that will allow you to broadcast over the internet. You just have to download there software.
I had mine setup on the outside of the incubator. The only problem with it was I had to keep the glass clean.
The only thing I would do different is look for a wireless cam. But I really liked the quality picture I got from the Microsoft cam.

I can possibly get discounts on webcams since my fiance works at Bestbuy. Might save a few bucks. I was wanting to get one and set it up in the glider cage at night. Is there anyway to get the webcam to record video so I can view it later?

I also want to set it up near the ball pythons after they get used to thier enviroment.

    I got mine at bestbuy!!
The software that comes with it will allow you to record video straight onto your computer. But it does not have night vision. I am sure you could find one that has night vision.

We set it up so that our home-security cameras can be viewed by us online at any time. With a laptop, this is one kick-butt home security system!

Thats a great idea... I might give that a try too...

Then I might actually get to see if my snake does anything...
She never does anything in the day (of course) and I never see anything at night but probably becasue I'm sleeping... or out getting drunk...

Let me know how it goes!
