How long is a f/t rat good for if you leave it out ?
last night i was getting ready t feed and i had the rats thawing out and i fell asleep. Its been about ten hours my first assumption is to toss them and go get new ones but i got about $20 in rats there so i figured id ask the pros

You should treat a FT rat the same way you would a piece of chicken or steak. If you thaw the rat and the snake does not take it you should dispose of the rat and try again another day. Don't take risks with your snake to try and save a $2 rat.

Well the question was mostly in the name of science. Some animals can eat old dead things! Ive had to toss rats in the past never this many so i thouhgt id ask. It would take some one i trust on here to give me a good answer to get me to feed the old rats to my snake :sunny:

    ;) Gotcha,

Let me just say that even though Komodos can eat carrion in the wild if I owned one for a pet he would be getting the fresh stuff ;)
