?'s with Helix and RBI Racks
I just wanted to ask everyone about the difference between grounded version and regular version of Helix T-stats.
Also, how does the Helix set up. I have a ranco at the moment, so does it come with a power strip where you can plug multiple flexwatts into the helix or do all the flexwatts need to be wired into one plug?
My room may be cold during the winter. Does anyone know how the RBI racks set up their heat tapes? I am planning on having the high side at it's normal 90~ and add another heat tape attached to my spare Ranco so I may set that to about 82~. Just wanna know how the heat tape is intergrated in the racks. Thanks for the click guys.

The grounded version comes with a power strip that fits flexwatt that has been wired with a 3-pronged cord. Depending on which rack you purchase, heat will either be installed down the back wall of the rack or recessed into each shelf of the rack.

You can plug a power strip into the Helix and then plug all your flexwatt into the power strip as long as its all the same wattage and you don't exceed the allowable wattage for the Helix. As far as the heat configuration, it depends what rack you are referring to. The shoebox are all back heat, the sweaterbox come in back or belly (the belly heat is routered into a groove in the back so the tub doesn't slide directly on it and wear away the plastic. The CB70 comes with 2 separately wired pieces of flexwatt on each level. Hope this helps!

So basically the grounded version would be the "pre-wired" version of a Ranco?
What do you mean wired with a 3 pronged cord? In lamen's terms, does that mean it's the regular everyday outlets.
I will be getting the belly heat installed. I was just curious if it's just one long strip that's already installed, or is it more... OR do we put it in ourselves.

Thanks Jamie, the tub I am looking at is the Iris Sweaterbox Rack-32 Qt Belly
I wonder if the CB 70 can use dividers. That'd be pretty awesome.

It can't. I talked to Rich about it in the past and it had to do with the length of the tub. Too long for dividers. I use mostly all 32qt sweaterbox racks from RBI and have been very happy with them.

Both the grounded and ungrounded version are prewired. Ungrounded is for using flexwatt that has been wired with two-pronged cords. Kind of like a heavy duty extention cord vs a small household extention cord.
It is one continuous piece of flexwatt that is weaved into each shelf. The racks come ready to use, all you have to do is plug them into your thermostat.

So as a general rule of thumb, I can't go wrong with the grounded one right?

Right, you will be able to use 2- or 3-pronged plugs with the grounded one.

The grounded one has the 3 prong plug. Like this one:

as long as your outlets in the wall are grounded, Your good to go...
