    Dog food for mice?
Does anyone know if its OK to give pregnant mice dog food?

I know you can give them biscuits because there high in fat, As is dog food. Giving them more fat/protein will make it less likely for them to eat there babies.

[The reason for eating there babies are 1. there stressed or 2. They eat them to get back all the nutrients they lost being pregnant and giving birth]

So does anyone know if its okay to give preg. mice dog food? [Along with there rodent blocks]

    Yes you can.

I feed my mice mazuri lab block mix with so little dog food, tri-color pasta, and cheerios.

They are all healthy and generally average 10-13 babies per litter and no loss.

I order rodent block with a few other local herpers in fairly large quantities, and I regularly use dog food with the mice to help stretch the rodent block until the next order is going in. I only use dog food with no added dyes, and not exclusively, but I have never had a problem using it before.

I feed a mix of lab block and dog food to my rats, and I tried it with my mice. I actually had MORE cannibalism when I did this, so I stopped giving dog food to the mice altogether. Maybe I was giving too much? I don't know, but I thought I'd share my experience.

I may try it again, but with less dog food in the mix. I'm currently giving a mix of lab block and parrot food to my mice, and they're doing better for me than they ever have before.
