Trying to figure Albino/Pied genetics out...
...and its making my head hurt, lol. Basically, I am trying to figure out, what all would happen in these situations:

    Male Albino + Female 50% Het Albino = ?

    Male Albino + Normal Female = ?

    100% Het Pied + Normal Female = ?

Does 50% het albino + albino = all normals are 100%/66%/50% hets for albino?
Does normal female to Albino = 100% hets or 50% het, or a mix of 50% and normals?
    would a 100% het pied to a normal = 50% hets?

Why can't snakes just look at you and be like, "Look foo, I'm this, got it? Good, now wheres my hide?" LoL. :8:

    Any help would be awesome.

My answers assume perfect % out of each clutch.

Male Albino + Female 50% Het Albino = ? This pairing will either prove or disprove the female as an Albino carrier so you will either get Albinos or 100% HET Albino (since dad is an Albino)

Male Albino + Normal Female = 100% HET Albino (will look normal but all will carry the ablino genes)

100% Het Pied + Normal Female = Half will be 100% HET Pied the other half will be Normal since you can't tell them apart you will call all of them 50% HET Pied

Does 50% het albino + albino = all normals are 100%/66%/50% hets for albino? This depends on if the 50% HET is proven or not...if so then you would get Albinos + 66% HET, if not then all the offspring would be 100% HET

Does normal female to Albino = 100% hets or 50% het, or a mix of 50% and normals? 100% HETs

    would a 100% het pied to a normal = 50% hets [Correct]

ok your first one a little tricky but if you breed a albino male to a 50% het albino female. here is what it means that female has a 50% chance of carrying the gene to produce an albino and if your lucky you could have a albino baby from that breeding

now if you breed a albino male to a normal female your clutch of eggs will all be 100% het for albino

now if you breed a 100% het pied male to a normal female all babies have a 50% chance of carrying the gene to make a pied.

    [Correct]

If you had a proven 50% HEt albino + albino, wouldn't the offspring be albino's and 100% HET albinos? I mean, since the F1 generation has an actual albino in it, all normal appearing babies would be 100% hets. I would think that the only way you could get 66% het albinos would be if you bred two 100% Het albino's together.

so the 50% means it has a 50% chance of carrying the gene for albinos and a 50% of just simply being another normal? And if you breed a 50% het to an actual albino, and you dont get any albinos, that means she was simply another normal and all the offspring are 100% hets? If thats the case, where the heck does a 50% come from?

Your confusion is that if proven it wouldn't be a 50% Het any longer it would either be a 100% (if proven to be a carrier) or a Normal (if you didn't prove it to be a carrier).

So if you bred 100% HET to 100% HET you would get - 1/4 Albinos, 1/2 100% HET Albinos and 1/4 Normals...since you cannot tell the HETS from the Normals these would be called 66% HET.

    Make sense?

Or you were just unlucky this time around...you would need to disprove her a couple times to be sure is is just a normal :D

Here's a great site for learning about basic genetics....

    http://www.ballpython.ca/genetics.html

Also you need to get friendly with the good old punnet square, so grab a pencil and some paper and have fun at the NERD site....probably the best information around to get you started and then take you far beyond the basics.....
