9 day olds first shed

Hello,

I read the "bad shed" "no problem" post and I was wondering if soaking her is ok for a first shed? Should I soak her or leave her alone? Her shed started at her neck and she completely shed everything except her head. Normally if this ever happened with my adults I would check my temps and humidity levels and generally leave them alone and make sure there next shed was good. I have a 17yr old normal female and a 16 yr old normal male. I have soaked them once or twice in the past, but this baby spider is making me nervous. Any suggestions? Will she be less likely to eat with her eye caps on? Getting babies to eat can be challenging enough I dont want to cause her un due stress by soaking her or handling her to much.

Bad head sheds take a little more effort then just soaking as most snakes (in my experience) won't put their heads in the water when soaking. I would wet a pillow case (or other small cloth bag) with warm water and put her in it. She will crawl around in it and rub her head as she does helping to remove the excess shed. (this is what I did when 2 of my babies had bad first sheds - worked like a charm):)

1. how long should I leave her in there?

2. I am guessing I should I put her in the pillow case/small bag in her cage where it's warm, right?

3. She was just crawling around rubbing her head, should I give her alittle time to do it herself?

1. No more then 10 minutes (use warm water - don't want it to get cold)
2. When I did it I held the bag and helped massage her to make sure she moved around and gentle rubbed her head.
3. If she is trying by herself then I would let her (put a wet paper towel in near her to help give her something moist to rub on) - maybe give her an hour to see if she can get it off on her own.
