    wierd genetic anomaly?
    Hi,

I was browsing on a british herp forum and saw a link to a strange snake that Ralph Davis hatched out this year.

    Linky (clutch 16)

I wondered is anyone had any opinions on cause?

Looking at the last 2 pics of it it looks like the eye area is swollen out (as evidenced by the skin between the scales) and I wondered if it was something like encephalitis.

I had a clutch of albino garter snakes like that.....they all eventually died. My hypothesis was malformed eye pressure regulation apparatti, or/and hydrocephaly. I would be highly surprised if that snake lived.......

I don't remember I'll see if I can find it. But it was just a little pic that he puts up in his journal.

It almost looks like the bug-eyed leucistic Rat snakes, but the scale area on this Ball does look more swollen. Maybe the swelling will eventually go down. Nice to see that Ralph didn't cull him, though.

Wow; that made my jaw drop. :( I hope for the little booger's sake that he is ok and can live. I would definately never breed that snake though.
