my dog nursing my kitten?

my puppy... annabella was sitting there the other night... well laying there sleeping and our kitten harley jr. came over and started nuzzling her... as we watched... he latched on a nursed for about 30 minutes!!!

the next night... i watched the same thing happen on my bedroom floor.

i couldn't figure out what the little red pin pricks were on annabella's belly... now i know... it's from harley jr. kneeding while he nurses LOL

i'm assuming he's not getting anything, as she's only a pup herself... but i figure the bond they are creating is priceless!!!

I have heard of nursing dogs feeding kittens and vice versa. Same thing with pigs and tiger cubs, but this is an interesting event !

yes, especially since she's never been a mother! she's only a pup... born march 6th 2007.

it's so cute... harley jr. nurses and she wakes up... licks his face and he continues on and she goes back to sleep LOL just like she's a mama.

i know harley jr. looks big in this pic... but he's not. he's only about 10 weeks old. he was born may 19th 2007

that's so funny! when we first got gypsy when she was a kitten, i think it was the second night, she searched and searched for a good nip on nevaeh, our dog! for about 2 hours she kept looking... poor girl! maybe she wasn't quite ready to leave mama yet!

That is so cute :) My cat is 11 but sometimes he will "nurse" off of stuffed animals.. weirdos :)

usually that means that they were taken away before they were fully weaned and/or something tramatic happened to them when they were young and they do that for security reasons or stress relief. But yeah its weird to watch them do that. cute pic of the kitten nursing on the puppy. At least they will get along. :D
