Re: might be getting a free baby corn..
Cornsnakes are mega easy to care for. "Normal" room humidity is fine for them. I turn off the heat and keep mine at room temperature during the summer which is about 80, then during the winter I turn the heat back on keep them at 82 on the warm side and the cool side is around 75. Plastic bins are just fine for them. They aren't picky. If it's a hatchling use a smaller tub until it gets larger. Minimum size for an adult is a 20g long tank. I feed hatchlings every 5 days, then every 7 days for yearlings, then 7-10 days for adults.
I'd definately recommend picking up Kath Love's book: http://www.amazon.com/Corn-Snakes-Co...7280432&sr=8-1
A must have for any corn keeper.

I <3 corn snakes. My first snake ever was a corn snake and he's one of the easiest snakes to deal and is one of my sweetest snakes who I help new people who aren't sure or kind of afraid of them to handle, touch, look at. He's tuned a few peoples opinions on snakes around. They are great snakes to have that is for sure!

Corns are very easy to keep, I have a male and female - for all the info you need go to the forums on cornsnakes.com :) Good luck!
Re: might be getting a free baby corn..
i had him for a little bit, i actually took him up to a snake friend of mine who is going to keep the little guy. it was about 2 1/2 feet long but very scared and nippy. im sure with some tlc our friend will have him relaxed, eating well and being nice :) im not experienced with corn snakes and know after watching it strike at our friend i wouldnt have done much with it either.. unfair for the snake IMO.
Re: might be getting a free baby corn..
So if your ball struck at you you'd just give up on it?
I mean I'm glad the snake got a new home but its got foreign people around it, had been uprooted, it probally just needed to settle down.
Re: might be getting a free baby corn..
please dont flame me.. it was for the best of the snake, honestly. im not goign to take on something i know i dont have time for myself. it went to a responsible snake owner who has had snakes much longer than i. and if my ball struck at me a bit after i got it bet your booty i would be taking it back for a more docile snake. corns are docile snakes and this one had a history of striking, despite its reason i would rather have a calm and relaxed corn snake before opening a new can of worms with one with such a poor history. who knows how long its been "nippy" it wasnt a hatchling. either way, i know what was done was for the snakes best intrest cut and dry. someday i would love to have a corn snake or the like.

I agree with you a 100% on giving that corn snake a fair chance, and letting your friend have it instead of you not giving it the attention it needs. But getting bit usually comes with ownership of snakes, it may never happen or it might happen tomorrow, you could make a mistake, snake not be in a good mood etc. like I said it could never happen for all I know, I just wanna give you the heads up. But once again good job on giving that corn a nice home.

When it comes to colubrid housing I'm actually not comfortable with most tubs and have always kept our daughter's milksnake in a tank with very good clips. They are escape artists and I just have never felt a tub lid was secure enough for these littler wigglers.
