    They Both Ate!
Had the BEST feeding night last night! I'm literally dancing with happiness. As some of you may remember we got four 07 hatchlings and a female adult WC in about mid-June. Two of the hatchlings needed a bit of assist feeding and the WC refused to eat (which from our information has been her pattern thus far in captivity other than the occasional meal she would take). We got Darra, the one hatchling to eat a few weeks back and she's doing very well now. Kennis the other hatchling showed absolutely zero hunting instinct so we've been assist feeding her. As of the last two feedings she was showing more interst in swallowing quickly once the prey was in her mouth but still no willingness to strike or constrict independently. Danu, the WC adult, was showing no interest either but had started to lurk from her hide.

Well last night they both independently took live prey! YAY! Little Kennis took a nice young rat fuzzy and Danu took a rat pup. The pup's a bit small for Danu's girth but it's a lovely start. We couldn't be more pleased. What a great early birthday prezzie the girls gave me last night!

Thanks hon! Mike and I are just thrilled. Danu wasn't horribly skinny or anything nor was she dropping weight fast but I like to see them take something. Kennis was the big worry as she's a tiny hatchling and was just not showing any hunting interest at all. Guess she finally figured it out (or she may have heard Mike mumbling as we assist fed her..."I'm not doing this when you are 2,000 frigging grams!")

Just a quick update...all the babies and Danu ate again last night! :carrot: It's an incredibly rewarding feeling to see the two non-feeders (Kennis and Danu) finally slamming into their prey and constricting forecefully as a healthy snake does. I love watching any of our snakes eating but there's always something extra special when the "problem" feeders finally get going. Yay for Kennis and Danu!

Niamh and Fianna, the two biggest 07's are doing very well and little Darra who had to be assist fed a couple of times before she started eating has turned into a power house little predator. She hit her dinner last night before I could get the tub lid back in place! Whoohooo!

maybe you can come up here and get my two non-feeders to start munching mices...

i am gonna have to go take a road trip to the only pet store around here that sells live hoppers. but while i am there i can weigh some of there breeders and maybe pick up some heavy females that can give me some babies!!!!

    anyway congrats Jo!
