Gettin a new Boa Constrictor (not redtail)
Ok, first of all, there are a lot of people on this forum who refer to their BCI's as red tails. They are not redtails. A True redtail is certainly a sight to behold...
Anyway, heres my newest addition to the addiction.
She's a Lucy Pastel X, her mother is a Lucy pastel and her father is a Pastel dream. NERD's picking her up at Daytona and i'm gonna get to pick her up at their facility... can't wait ^_^
I'm getting her from Primareptilia.com. Apparently both of her parents were bred by Jeff Ronne, founder of the term 'Pastel' in Boa's. She is showin LOTS of color!

The term redtail is all encompassing when we use it here on the site. Most of us are aware of the differences between BCC, BCI, BCO, etc, and use the terms when we want to define specifics.
Nice looking kid, btw... BOAS ROCK! :D

We know. It's just sometimes easier than referring to whatever locale boa constrictor, especially if it's unknown.

Nice snake... but I believe that to also be a BCI. "True" red tails are of the BCC species, such as Surinames, Guyanans, etc... from what I understand. That being said, I also call common, "Columbian" BCI's redtailed boas.
Re: Gettin a new Boa Constrictor (not redtail)
i know she's a BCI. notice the parenthesis ;)
yeah true redtails are BCC.
I call BCI's boa constrictors.

But see, saying boa constrictor is pretty much the same as saying red tail boa.
Someone says, I got a red tail boa. All right, what kind of red tail? We'll ask because we don't automatically assume that all red tails are BCI... we just say red tail to delineate a snake in the boa constrictor family (most of whom do, indeed, have red tails).
But, you say, I got a boa constrictor. All right... what kind of boa constrictor? There's boa constrictor imperator, or boa constrictor occidentalis, or boa constrictor constrictor...
If you really want to get into specifics, you need to use the subspecies names: imperator, constrictor, occidentalis... etc.
