New Blood for the Rat Colony
Had some fun walking around the Taylor, MI show this past Saturday and picked up some new rats and a trio of ASF rats (Mike's new project). Here's the new crew...

Got this little Self Blue guy from Amelia at ES Tropicals (a really nice lady). He's a real cutie. I would have got a female Blue too but Kevin beat me to her LOL. Meet...Elvis!

This little Agouti female doesn't have a name yet so feel free to help name her. She's got this constantly worried look like she's not sure what life is tossing at her next LOL.

This is LisaMarie. We don't have any females this color but I think she's a Fawn Hooded, not really sure though so if you know, let me know. :)

This is Priscilla, another pretty blonde/red colored rat, (Self Fawn???) not sure if she's related to LisaMarie or not. They were the only two in the bin this particular pretty color. Got them and the unnamed female from Ed's Rodents.

Mike's "project"...the ASF's. The two females are the rat on the left and in the middle, the male is the one on the right. He's quite funny! Constantly brings food to his ladies. I've never noticed our regular male rats doing this but this fella spends a lot of his time hauling food to the females and covering up the food bowl in case anyone comes by to steal it. LOL They are quite amusing little things. They make the oddest chatter sounds. I'm not sure if this is a social thing or they are upset about something.

We ended up naming the little Agouti and White girl "Gracie" (as in Graceland...to follow the Elvis theme LOL). I'm still not sure what actual color Priscilla and LisaMarie are. Okay you rat experts out there...are they Fawns or something else? They appear almost strawberry blonde in color....definitely not beige, but not a true red tone either. Very bright and a quite pretty color. :)

your agouti female, gracie looks alot like our male - jackson... i love the colour of their fur... such a mix of shades. he sure makes some beautiful babies and i'm sure your girl will as well.

(worried look? perhaps she with security for the elvis crew) LOL

and i love how you say it's mike's project... does that mean you don't have to feed or clean up after these ones? LOL

Well heck yeah I feed and clean em Aleesha but then I pretty much feed and clean anything that walks, slithers or crawls into this house....that's the "mom" instinct in me. LOL

Actually for all their rep as little nippers this ASF trio is pretty laid back. They are already letting us scratch and gently stroke them without doing much of anything about it and haven't put a tooth into us yet. We haven't tried to pick them up at all but as long as they don't act up when we are caring for them or their home, I'm good with that. :)

I'm no expert on rat breeds, but that little solid blonde looks a lot like my golden agouti.

Whatever they are, those are some cute cute rats. I love that little blue :)
