    Feeding during shed
    Hey guys,
I did a few searches and couldnt hit right on the topic so I figured I'd start a new thread. Apologies if it's been beaten up in discussion before.

Today is my regular day to feed by BP. I've had him about 5 weeks without a shed yet. I scented the cage and he came to the opening of his hide, introduced a FT mouse and he took it. However he came out of his hide to eat today and i noticed his color is much duller than it was yesterday and the day before, and his eyes are foggy. I'm assuming his shed is finally here...

The question I have for you is do you guys typically discontinue feeds during the week long shed? Or do you offer and let them refuse if they do not want it. I've heard contradicting information on this topic.

Either way, my snake is eating happily as we speak so I guess he's doing ok. Just wanted some info regarding the "norm"

i always offer the food. usually they take it and eat with no problem. but if they would refuse to eat then i wouldn't worry about it. the snakes i have now have never refused to eat during a shed.

If they will take food during shed it is fine to offer. I personally don't only because I feed live and I don't feel like cleaning up a cage full of rat crap if the snake does not eat.

I always feed on regular schedule regardless of shed some will occasionally refuse but it is rare.

Only time I actually tried to feed during shed (I usually just use it as a week off so she doesnt get overfed and fast) she seemed interested but didn't strike. I think it was because she couldn't really see that well. So either way its just what you feel you wanna do, it's not gonna hurt the snake to eat during shedding.

I feed during shed. It doesn't really matter, either they'll eat or they won't. The choice is up to you, well ultimately to the snake, but you get the picture.

I agree, feed during shed. Some will take it, some won't. Once you know who will and won't then adjust accordingly.

I fed yesterday to one of mine who is opaque'd. Took him a little longer to strike, mostly because the little rat kept bumping in to him and startling him, but he still ate...
