Ranco/Johnson Thermostat Setting
I set up a new Ranco Thermostat the other day...
As per Rich at Reptile Basics I placed the probe on the bottom of the UTH. In order for the accurite to hit that 90-94 mark, the thermostat must be set to about 99-100...
Anyone else have this happen?
What is your Ranco/Johnson Thermostat set for and what is your accurite thermometer reading???

Re: Ranco/Johnson Thermostat Setting
Yep, that's what I have to do as well with my Johnson. My stat is set at 98 and my hide temp on the accurite is 92-93. The bottom of the pad apparently gets hotter than the part against the glass when under the tank. I think it has to do with the confined space under there. I believe as long as the temps in the hide are steady, it really doesn't matter what the stat reading is. Just make sure the glass under the substrate isn't too hot and you should be good.
Re: Ranco/Johnson Thermostat Setting
same here i have my probe taped to the flexwatt, and needs to be ~96-98˚ to get the tubs at 88-89. this is so dramatic cause i am using back heat, not belly heat. with belly heat the difference should only be about 4-5˚.

It's actually about 1.5 with the belly heat in my rack. I set it at 94, and get 92.5
