    Heat mat wattage Q.
I'm going to be ordering a Helix DBS-1000 proportional thermostat and it has a 500 watt limit. I'm just going to keep using my exo terra heat mats until I buy a rack this fall. However I can't find out how many watts a medium sized heat uses. Does anyone know how many watts or where I can find out how many watts they produce. I've googled it and I just keep getting product searches. Thanks in advance.

i'd say around 15-20 watts for a med size. i know a 11"x12" piece of flexwatt is 20 watts, so i would say the heat mat might be something around there.

I know the 11" x 17" one is 25watts. I am not sure if that constitues medium or large size...but even if a little higher you have plenty of room to work with.

    hope this helps.

    Hi, :)
Not sure if you are talking about heat pad or heat tape but here is some info...
    Exoterra pad:
Here is the wattage for the medium and large of each kind.
    Desert:
    11" x 17" = 25W
    11" x 10" = 12W
    Rainforest:
    11" x 17" = 12W
    11" x 10" = 8W
For my rack i use Easyheat cable, its 150W for 30ft.
    :D
