    Rack/tub size question
I have a question that I hope that I can get some opinions on. Now I have been doing a lot of research on rack building and the tubs used in them in preparation for building one. Now from what I have seen, the average breeder/rack user uses and please correct me if I am wrong:
    6q – 14.7x8.5x5
    18q – 16.3x11.1x10
    30q – 22.8x16.7x7
    41q – 34.75x16.5x6
    Now some use 12q – 16.375x11.5x5.875
    And 15q – 17x 11.125x6.375
And 28q (Don’t have dimensions on hand for that one)
And 32q – 23.5x16.25x6.375 (some will keep their males in this for the rest of life)
Now most of these are sterilite measurements. There is the Iris CB70 which is a 41q – 33.5x17.75x6.
After all of this, you are probably wondering what I am getting at here. Partly, to put all of this in one place for other people to find so they don’t have to search all over the place for it. And now to my main question, there is another sterilite container that is a 40q (1986) but it has the dimensions of 26.125x18.25x6.375. This tub, which I finally found in the store, is wider and a little taller than the 41q but it is also a little shorter in length. However, it does not have the typical slant that the other sterilites have so there is more floor space. Also, the floor is smooth, no divots like the other sterilites. So, I was wondering if there was reasoning behind having the longer tub as opposed to a wider one with more floor space? Or would this would be an okay tub for a female adult?

    Thanks!

I would like to get these racks made before my snakes arrive. Anyone have an opinion on the 41q versus the 40q sterilite tubs? Thanks!

I've never seen a 40qt sterilite before, but I've used the 41 qt ones and they're great. As for using a longer narrow or shorter wider one, I personally would opt for the longer narrower one simply because there's more room for the snake to stretchout if it wanted to. Plus, a piece of 11" flexwatt heats them perfectly.

I had never seen them in the store either until Wednesday. They are completely flat on the bottom.
    Thanks again!!

With the flat bottom, I don't see what the big deal is. The non-flat tubs are easy to clean. The grooves are not so dramatic that you can't clean them, so for me, the flat vs not flat wouldn't even be a factor in my decision.
