Glass tank or Plastic tub?

So im getting my BP very soon, i already have a plastic tub, but my dad doesn't like that idea, what do you think?

I think a lot of people on here will advocate plastic tubs, and I'm starting to see why. I have my big 3.5' girl in a 40 gallon breeder tank and it's sooo difficult to keep the temps constant. I don't really want to move her out of her setup though. I recently aquired a baby and am keeping him quite happily and easily in a plastic tub.

Tubs are lighter, easier to keep up humidity and the right temps... just not as appealing to look at.

It's up to you, either way should be fine as long as you can get the temps and humidity and other husbandry requirements correct.

My first ball was in a tank, he is now in a tub and the tank is being used for a leopard gecko. Once I went to tubs, I never looked back.


If I want to see any of my snakes, I simply take them out of their tubs.

Same here

Tubs provide more security and how easier to maintain and clean.

Can you succesfully keep your BP in a glass enclosure? Yes but you will have to work harder at it.

What matter is that you provide your BP with an environment that is not stressful with proper temps and humidity.

I've never used tubs before but I have heard rave reviews about them. I personally haven't had any problems keeping temps and humidity correct in my glass enclosures, but I also hear that is rare.

Let your dad know that using a tub it will be less stressful on the snake and easier for a first time ball python keeper.

Tubs hands down. For BP's that is. Other types of snakes it can vary and you may need more space but for Ball pythons it's tubs all the way.
