    New rack with DIY instructions
Here's a new rack I just made. I used to use melamine, but it was wayyyy to heavy to move by yourself. I wanted something lighter, but being a poor grad student, I couldn't fork over $400 for a 41qt rack that only had 4 tubs. So I decided to try out expanded pvc for myself. My first design was a disaster, but luckily all the pieces were salvagable so this was a second try and it worked (I think) pretty darn well. Holds 7 of the sterilite 41qt tubs; plenty of room for bps. I made a write up for any other DIY folks; it's a pdf so you can just print and built.

Total cost, uncluding heat, tubs, and all materials was about $550 to build two like this and another that holds the 28/12qt tubs. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions either via PM or at info@blueappleherps.

Instructions are here. Sorry, sort of a big file (20 mb)

Looks incredible. I'd stain/paint the wood and maybe the PVC and that thing would look perfect.

I built three like this and was able to go from two walls of snakes to a corner. Now I have all this room I don't know what to do with. (hmmmm...thinking more snakes :D )

You can buy the PVC in different colors. But I like the look of the bare wood with the white. I think it gives it a cool industrial type look. But hey, that's just me.

where did you get the PVC?

It's very nice! I have been wanting to make a new rack that wouldn't be super heavy and I think this may work out for me also!

I made three racks total (two like this and one for the 28/12qt tubs) and spend ~$550 for materials, tubs, and heat for all three. I priced out making just one at around $200-225. It's cheaper to built a couple because you can get longer pieces of wood for not much more (i.e. 12ft is only a little more than 8ft).

As for the PVC, I got it from a local plastics company.
