Computer Help
Hey I'm trying to get a program from my PC to my new laptop and cannot for the life of me think of a solution. I lost the original CD during a recent move, but I need this program on the new computer. What are my options?

Re: Computer Help
can you put the program/app onto a CD? I have no idea if it's that easy for PCs, I use a Mac. ;)
Edit: If it's one of those apps that you have to have the original CD for, then I don't know.

Re: Computer Help
Network the two computers. Set open access for sharing between the two.
In "My Network places" on the lap top browse through the programs on your other computer, if there is a set up.exe file there just copy it over. If not, you may be able to copy and paste the entire folder from the program files window but that doesn't always work... Once you copy it from within My network places, paste it into your program files folder and see if it will work...
If you have a USB flash drive that's probably easier for the copy and paste option.

If it's an installed program then you're out of luck. You need a CD or something with the installer.
What program is it?

Re: Computer Help
As nate said, unless it has no dependencies you can't just copy it over and expect it to run. Generally most software has files (dll's and such) that have to be registered within the operating sytem.
