    Bad Egg
Hi all. One of my females laid on the 26 july. We had 2 good looking eggs and 3 slugs. I incubated them all, and the slugs went mouldy in no time. One of the remaining two eggs started moulding on top and underneath a few days ago, and candling was showing no signs of veins or life, so I decided to cut it tonight and take a peek inside. This is the inside of the egg. Can anyone shed some light as to what may have caused this and would the egg have been no good from the start, or is this an incubation error? The other remaining egg is looking good and has plenty of veins and movement.

    Cheers

    Adam

It sounds like the egg was unlikely infertile to begin with, but I have only had my one clutch and definitely not an expert in this. (not even close  ) What temperature are you incubating at, and what type of incubator setup are you running?

I am incubating at 89 degrees, using plastic mesh over vermiculite. I incubated last year, with the eggs in the vermiculite with 100% hatch rate. I dont think these eggs were very good to start with though, so I suppose I should not blame my incubation method. Just hoping now that the last egg makes it ok. It is looking very good at the moment, so just hope it stays that way.

    Cheers

It's sounds like the eggs were likely bad then, but best of luck hatching out that last little one! You might want to double and triple check your temps and humidity, and barring that just praying.... ;)
