Doesn't she look skinny??
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h3...DSCN0882-1.jpg
I just got this guy from a breeder down in Kansas. She literally came about 25 minutes ago, and I noticed she is really skinny. You can kinda see her backbone. Do you guys agree that she is skinny or is it just me?
::Edit:: The girlfriend just decided to name her Charlotte (after Charlotte's Web) I think it's a keeper! Wish me luck guys on getting her up and running!
Re: Doesn't she look skinny??
Looks like a healthy little spider to me
Re: Doesn't she look skinny??
I don't know, I was holding her, and I don't know if you can tell on the right side of the picture, it looks like a lump (as if the shipper fed her and threw her in the pillow case.. ::shocked)
She has like a V-shaped back which would make me feel she was skinny. Maybe I'll get some better pics, but I don't want to bother her.
Re: Doesn't she look skinny??
Well how many meals did it have prior to shipping ???
That lump is a little odd. Did you pick that one or did the breeder just send you a female spider???
Re: Doesn't she look skinny??
It may be that she's just completely stressed from the trip. Animals can sometimes have crazy weight drops when under duress. If that happened, that lump could be a couple days old.
I wouldn't bother her. Get her warm and comfy and happy, and see how she looks in a few days.

She had four meals prior to shipment. I picked her of the three he had.
Re: Doesn't she look skinny??
first thing i would do was email and call the breeder and let him know of the problem/lump. give it a few days and see what happens. this way you have proof and he will take it back and send a healthy one if there are any problems
Re: Doesn't she look skinny??
I'd ask him when he fed her - it does look like a lump from a recently fed meal. Let's hope he didn't feed her the day before shipping. If he did, hopefully she'll keep this meal down.
Congratulations on the new one! But you totally stole the name I wanted to use for a future female spider! (I'm teasing you, of course!)
Re: Doesn't she look skinny??
Part of going with a good breeder is confidence in that relationship. If you are at all concerned about the snake's appearance, feeding issues, etc. before coming to a forum, I think perhaps you should have given your breeder time to answer your concerns first.
