Why you can't trust Analogue Humidity gages (pictures)
I felt left out for not posting any pics so far, but I just thought some newer members might find this interesting (or older ones). I promise I did nothing to influence these outcomes... Both devices have been sitting in the same spot for three days (well, the probe for out door was a little near a hot coffee, so that did effect the two temp readings... lol)

The date on the photos is a little off, but that's because my camera resets it every time the power goes off.

Sorry about the quality, my camera didn't like being dropped in the sand last summer!

haha nice effort... need some little clearer pictures. but i think the point is made. i started off using the dials, and after misting 3 time a day i knew something was up. so i got an acurite and i had been keeping things in the "hi" range....

at least my guy shed perfectly after that :)

so yea that is a nice warning... don't trust the dials, get a digital.

    BRAVO!!!

Yeah, this forum is making me want to buy a new camera!!! If the lighting is even slightly off it makes everything blurry, and for some reason it's no longer saving it's settings between power on/off.

At least you can make out the numbers though... gets the point across... :)

I'll have to get my friend to come photo shoot with her Digital SLR because after all the $$ I've spent over the past two months prepping for my ball I can't afford one!!! lol

i was just at "that pet store" today cause i had a $2 off coupon and i needed some crickets. and this couple were planning on buying a turtle or a corn snake, and where looking at the thermometers. they had the sticker type and the dials, and i chimed in and said i wouldn't get either. i told them about acurites at walmart for the same price as the dial ones. they said thank you and i told them to check out this forum to learn all they can about whatever they wanted to purchase.

i did my good deed for today...

Good one! :) that's exactly what I would do every time I helped customers getting reptiles or herp equipment. I just made sure the managers weren't around to hear me extolling the virtues of Walmart for digi thermometers, fake greenery, and bulbs. :D
