Found this little guy crossing Road

Found this guy crossing a busy road while visiting a friend in South Africa! any one know what he is??

While i'm not sure of the answer to your question, I do have a question of my own...

When you find an animal crossing the road, do you help him to the other side or do you put him back from the side he came from? :D

no idea but i luv the shell design! especially the bottom part!

You always put them on the side they were heading towards. If you put them back where they were coming from, they will only turn around and try again.

While it is hard to tell from the pics, I would say that it is a Pyxis species.

I always put them to the side they're going to... Unless they've got more than 4 legs.. Caterpillers can just fend for themselves because I'm not a fan of touching bugs!!

My work backs onto a forest and river... I'm constantly moving toads off the driveway (daily) at the moment... My co workers think it's funny when I go out for a smoke break and start moving them off the lunch patio so no one steps on them.

Oh and am I totally off in thinking that looks like a box turtle??? He looks *extremely* similar to my friend's box... Then again, it might not be a box she owns... I should get her on here to check, she'd be able to tell you in a second.

Nope not a box. We have countless box turtles here in Oklahoma. It is similar.

Bad guess then!!! Been so long since I saw her turtle up close though so at least they look similar and I wasn't way off!
